Generally Students choose
discipline according to their choices and marks in engineering colleges. In all
engineering colleges, there are eight semesters for four year engineering
courses. In each semester there are 4/5/6 subjects which students must learn
them and score the marks accordingly. In this four year engineering program,
they are lagging in project work (hands on) and due to this colleges cannot
produce skilled student in the particular specialized area. They cannot fulfill
the Graduate Attributes. The Graduate Attributes Framework has been created by
each college, school and subject area and tailoring for particular co- and
extra-curricular activities.
The final year project can be
this project only. It should not be separate.
To overcome above
problem, I have developed one model which may work. This model should run apart
from their academic courses (Subjects) on Saturdays and Sundays.
1. When Students enter into the engineering colleges (FE) according to their choices/marks, the college must introduce them the emerging technologies in their respective program (department) on Saturdays or Sundays. At the end of first year, they should select their area of interest (specialized area).
[For Example –
The students enter in Computer/IT programs; they must get overview ideas of the
emerging technologies like IOT – Internet Of Things, AI (Artificial
Intelligence), AR (Augmented Reality)/VR (Virtual Reality), VFX, Robotics,
Embedded Systems, Machine learning, Deep learning, etc]
The college must arrange the seminar by
calling specialist persons from Academia or Industry.
2. When Students enter into SE (Second year), the college should gather students from all programs (departments) who have common area of interest in their selected area.
2. When Students enter into SE (Second year), the college should gather students from all programs (departments) who have common area of interest in their selected area.
In the same year
(from third semester) the hands on training in their respective area should be
given to students. On the same line, the students should know how to read and
download IEEE transaction papers in their area.
At the end of second year, they should have hands on experience in their
respective area.
3. When Students enter into TE (Third year), they should start actual project (that is from fifth semester). Projects should be based on real time. They should solve society’s real problems.
3. When Students enter into TE (Third year), they should start actual project (that is from fifth semester). Projects should be based on real time. They should solve society’s real problems.
In the same year
(in six semester) the students can publish their papers in their work in
different Journals/IEEE Conferences, etc
Project selection process:
The Authorities
(It may consist of group of students) should talk with people in society, find
out their problems.
List the
problem, analyze them.
Make problem
statements for each problem.
Make a team of
students (2/3/4) in each area.
Assign the
guide/mentor whose area of interest is same and who has worked in that area.
Assign the
problems to them.
4. When
Students enter into BE (Final year), they have to continue with the same
project. They should complete (implement and test) it within seven semester
only. In the eight semester they should deliver this project to the client
(customers/people) who will actually use their project.
Within 2 months,
they should get feedback from client so that they can improve in their
implementation (development)
After
his completion of graduation, the students will definitely capable of doing
real time projects in his specified area. Industries can also get the
specialized students in their area.
Nice thought sir by these the coming engineers will not only have degree but they will also have that talent which was not known by themselves also
